Health System GenAI Adoption Report – Focus Areas & Open Questions from 20 Health Executives
In mid-December, Elion convened health system executives from across the country to exchange early insights and learnings from their AI adoption journeys thus far. This resource highlights the material presented at the session as well as key takeaways from discussions with 20 leaders from hospital technology & innovation functions.
For as much buzz as has been generated around AI adoption in healthcare, 2023 has largely seen hospital and health system leaders carefully craft their approaches to AI. And while 2024 is slated to be the year that much of this planning turns into action (100% of our participants expected to implement a new AI vendor in some shape or form), it’s clear that a number of key open questions are still top of mind for health system leaders.
In our recent roundtable discussion, health executive participants laid out key problems areas – from defining comprehensive governance standards to appropriately framing ROI cases – that they are keen on solving as they refine their AI strategies. To get a detailed account of what health systems are thinking through, as well as insights around use case prioritization and implementation learnings, check out the full presentation from our private session with these leaders below.
What’s next?
We believe many of the questions outlined in these slides are critical to unlocking AI potential in healthcare. That is why we’re actively working with both health systems and vendors to consolidate best practices and, where necessary, help define standards. Stay tuned for more updates on this front in the coming months.
